Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Inactive -- TRCP.The short explanation of this alert was: Several states have developed programs that have allowed private landowners to voluntarily open millions of acres of private land to the public for recreational hunting and fishing. Each state's program is a little different and is designed to meet the needs of a given state's hunters and anglers, but they all have one thing in common: serious lack of funding. In fact, some states have access programs to administer and land waiting to be enrolled but, because of funding shortages, cannot make additional private land available for your enjoyment! "Open Fields" will help states to expand existing voluntary access programs and enroll the thousands of landowners they now have on waiting lists. It also will help the states with under-funded programs get them up and running, and it will help states without any access programs at all start new ones. Anyone who has taken advantage of the public access programs in states like Pennsylvania, Kansas, Montana, Colorado, Idaho, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming knows what a win-win these programs are for sportsmen, landowners and fish and wildlife. "Open Fields" provides needed funding to expand this concept nationwide. If we don't do something about access, we will continue to watch American sporting traditions fade away. Getting "Open Fields" passed is something we can do right now to reverse this trend. By taking a few minutes to encourage the lawmakers in Congress who represent you to sign on as a co-sponsor to "Open Fields", you can help get a bill passed that will make a real difference in the fight to improve public access.
