The short explanation of this alert was:

Every five years or so Congress reauthorizes Farm Bill legislation.  Why should hunters and anglers be concerned with farm legislation?  We may not immediately realize it, but nearly every type of game bird and animal and even most fish in America's rivers, streams, and lakes are affected by Farm Bill-authorized conservation programs.  In fact, more than 40 million acres of fish and wildlife habitat are found on America's rural landscape thanks to conservation programs authorized in the last three Farm Bills.  The next Farm Bill is scheduled for reauthorization in 2007.  One of the most critical components is its Conservation Title – and it needs your help to survive potential cuts to programs critical to the future of your hunting and fishing.

By taking a few minutes to encourage the lawmakers in Congress who represent you to support an expansive and adequately funded Conservation Title in the 2007 Farm Bill, you can help get a Farm Bill passed that will not only enhance your hunting and fishing prospects, but one that will also provide tools for rural landowners to become better stewards of their land.
