The short explanation of this alert was:
Colorado Governor Ritter has pledged to conserve Colorado roadless areas for the future of hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation in the Centennial state. To do this, Governor Ritter and the Federal Government are working together to develop a roadless rule that could determine the future management of 4.4 million acres of national forest backcountry areas in the Centennial State.

Unfortunately, the federal government is pushing to race through the Colorado roadless rule and get it done fast, without taking the necessary time to make sure it is done right and with the needs of sportsmen in mind. Unless things change, Colorado sportsmen could lose valuable big game and fisheries habitat important to our outdoor traditions.

Hunters and anglers must get involved now to assure that Colorado roadless areas are managed in a way that supports the sportsmen's community and sustains the state's renowned game populations. Secure your future hunting and fishing traditions by sending a letter to Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, asking him to support Colorado's backcountry, by fixing the problematic Colorado roadless rule.

A template for the letter is posted below. Please feel free to personalize the message; the more individualized the message, the more effective.
